Internationally acclaimed bouzouki performer, Tommy Tsonis has been entertaining audiences and guests for over 20 years. Having performed at over 5,000 events in Australia and on the global stage, Tommy Tsonis is renowned for his unparalleled skill with the bouzouki as well as his impressive showmanship.

Amongst Greek music royalty, Tommy is regarded as a sophisticated, talented, dynamic virtuoso and is sought after in Australia and abroad for his unique performance style that fuses Greek classics, contemporary songs, world music and pop hits.

At the age of just seven years old, Tommy Tsonis began playing the bouzouki and his immediate love of the instrument together with his determination to master the bouzouki through endless hours of practice, have garnered him the respect and admiration of well-known musicians, singers and artists around the world.

As a young teenager performing the music scene in Sydney and travelling every year to Greece to hone his skills, it was evident that Tommy would go on to become one of the greatest bouzouki performers and bring the inimitable sounds of the bouzouki to the world.

Tommy’s major Greek music influences include Stelios Kazantzidis, Parios, Dalaras, Glykeria, Zambetas, Dimitris Mitropanos and he is inspired by how the bouzouki can interpret music of all genres.

In 2000, Tommy was invited to perform at The Sydney Olympic Games official ceremony to launch the torch relay – a career highlight that combined Tommy’s passion for the bouzouki, his love of Greece and Australia. Tommy has also performed at many official cultural events including Greek festivals and Glendis in support of the Greek community.

Over the past decade Tommy has regularly toured Greece, each time working with some of the biggest names in Greek music scene, such as Giannis Ploutarhos, Antonis Vardis, Giannis Vardis, Giorgos Tsalikis, Nikos Tzoumas, Stathis Aggelopoulos, Alekos Zazopoulos, Stathis Ksenos, Makis Christodoulopoulos, Zigzag and many more. He has made guest appearances at all of the major music clubs in Greece performing at the Posodonio, Romeo, Asteria, Fix, and Frangelico.

Now based in Sydney and performing throughout Australia and overseas, Tommy’s performances are set apart by his extraordinary skill and enthusiastic style. His versatility combined with his ability to take the popular Greek bouzouki and reinterpret the classics, contemporary hits, and music of all styles, transforms the traditional sounds of the bouzouki into an instrument of the future.

As a solo artist, Tommy performs at corporate and private events including weddings, engagements, christenings and birthdays, entertaining brides, grooms, families, friends, guests, and audiences at the most important celebrations of their lives.
